The earth has returned in its orbit to approximately the same arbitrary point around the sun as when we started this podcast, so, unwisely, we wax philosophical, a choice the sun probably does not shine upon. Fortunately, we do stick to ruminating and hypothesizing about the business and the interesting nature of building real estate syndications.
Matthias has three excellent tenets upon which he hangs his ability to convince potential investors that he’s an upstanding, successful syndication sponsor. In the end, we both agree we’re more focused on persuading investors of their own potential than anything else. It’s a discussion about rhetoric, and I, of course, bask in it.
On the home front, Matthias has been stabbed in the back by pain because his, well, back betrayed him. He’s been claiming he’s mature for his age, and now he proves it by having a 50-year-old’s problem before turning 40. Meanwhile, I’m currently locked in a love-hate battle with the sun that my plants need but my AC thermostat does not. My blinds and curtains are probably unwittingly sending messages to spies. It’s an all-new Get Invested.
THOUGHTS
We’re not going to act like there is anything profound or pragmatic to take from this conversation, so rather than key takeaways,” here’s a list of our thoughts.
Credibility, integrity, and building relationships are the cornerstones of building successful syndications.
We’re not selling a product; we’re trying to convince others to join us in, and on, an enterprise that we believe will be beneficial for all.
We must convince investors to believe in us but, most importantly, to believe in themselves and the possibilities for their future.
Fingers crossed this podcast is one of a few ways we’re accomplishing these goals.
We structure our deals so that we only make money after our investors do to underscore that we’re all in this together.
We understand and have also faced the peril of short-term demands threatening less tangible long-term goals.
