There's No Such Thing as a Meme Apartment

Matthias and Jordan discuss real estate investing in the current economic uncertainty.
1

We switch it up a little bit this episode and put together an audition tape for CNBC. Ok, really, we just pontificate a bit more than usual and discuss current events and the broader market and economy before turning to how the current economic climate will affect real estate investment and what might come next. No worries, though tariffs are discussed, we keep it chill and think about it in only economic terms. We break down a number of scenarios that could play out with ongoing uncertainty or permanent shifts in US economic policy—but in a fun way, of course!

Meanwhile, Matthias is excited for the Masters, and I’m excited I have my office books and plants set up. In other words, we further establish that we’re old. It’s a brand new Get Invested.

Get Invested is also available on Spotify, Apple, and YouTube.

Key Takeaways

  1. The title of the episode says it all: real estate withstands and rides out many a market swing driven by emotion and projections based on announcements.

  2. Real estate market shifts require real inputs of supply, pricing, population growth, etc. to see a shift one way or another, insulating the investment from wild swings.

  3. Investing goals for most people should be long-term and be made understanding there will be ups and downs, but in the long run the investment will come out ahead.

  4. Though we advocate real estate investment that avoids this level of uncertainty, it’s also true that unless you’re at a point where you must sell a portfolio or are trying to retire, a current value is only theoretical and definitely not permanent.

  5. CVI will continue its concerted effort to buy property in a time we believe is optimal for acquisition and could end up being longer now than first predicted.
